☀️Light-Life🌿 🟢A reflection for the members of the Movement🟢

Two weeks ago, thanks to Sarah Schimpf and her initiative (you really proved having the charism of an animator 😊 ), my Facebook account increased in the number of English speakers and members of the Domestic Church in the USA (Alexander Schimpf, Sarah Landry, Thomas Cook, Kim Guthrey Trahan, Toni Orel, Christi Guillory Jarreau,Nicole Koch Hughes). So to welcome them in a special way, I have decided to write this reflection in English, and this will be about…

Father Blachnicki and his American Dream

When Fr. Francis began to develop the Movement, which back in the early 70' was named the Movement of the Living Church, he never thought of spreading it outside of Poland. Though he was travelling a bit in Western Europe and the US, the reason was; to see what the Holy Spirit was doing in the Church in the West. When he discovered something precious, he felt it would enrich the Movement, he implemented it in the formation/custom of the Movement.

Gradually "Father B." (that was his nickname given by his English-speaking friends to avoid breaking the tongue in pronouncing his beautiful Polish surname 😉) became convinced that the Light-Life Movement could bring gifts to other nations. Eastern Europe was the most obvious direction but his exile in Germany since 1982 changed his perspective. The first 'far away' land was Bolivia where his student Fr. Rufin Orecki, OFM started oasis in the late 70', and it grew rapidly.

Fr Blachnicki made three trips to the US. In 1978, 1982 (on his way to Bolivia) and 1985. The first one was a miracle (the communists usually blocked his trips by not giving him a passport, but this time it was no problem). He flew to the US to see the growth of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Then, in South Bend, he asked deacon Andrzej Płodowski to pray for him for the baptism in the Holy Spirit. It was well documented in the book 'Into the Lions' Den'. In the comment section, I have included an excerpt from that book about this event.

From his personal diary, we know that by 1985 when he made his third trip to the US he was determined to start a proper Light-Life Centre in America. He was not successful back then. After 25 years, the Holy Spirit used a very different way of bringing the 'first fruits' of the charism to the American Catholics, namely the Domestic Church.
What the future holds, we do not know. But I am sure "Father B" never changed his mind about having a full spectrum of the Light-Life Movement in the United States. He does his part in Heaven, and we have to do our part in helping his dream come true.

I have my own personal story with the US, Light-Life charism and Fr Blachnicki since year 2000 but I will leave it for another occasion 😎
